Hello Dear Teachers,
Luisa here, volunteering at Looney Labs doing all kinds of
fun stuff!
We are planning to have a package for National Games Week
that
features EcoFLuxx in an educational setting.
We want to know if EcoFluxx helps reinforce the material
taught in
biology class for certain topics. While at Origins, we met
with
several teachers who commented how well suited the game was
for the
5th grade curriculum, and that it was complementary to
higher
grades as well, all the way up to high school.
The experiment:
We are assuming that most teachers usually have at least 2
classes
at the same level. The plan would be to have the teachers
give
their lecture or series of lectures to cover the material.
Then,
for one of the classes, play EcoFluxx and then give the
EcoFluxx
quiz. For the other class, give the EcoFluxx quiz, and then
play
EcoFluxx.
We want to see whether the students that play EcoFluxx
before the
quiz, have higher quiz grades than the students that take
the quiz
before playing the game.
The EcoFluxx quiz:
As an introduction, the quiz touches upon general knowledge
of
different taxonomic groups that is not directly mentioned in
EcoFluxx. Later questions deal with EcoFluxx content more
directly.
You can download my first draft of the quiz from this link:

Please let us know if you think the material, language,
structure
etc. of the quiz are appropriate for this little experiment
we want
to perform. All comments will be greatly appreciated!
Get your copy of EcoFluxx really cheap:
If you would like to review the quiz material and compare
with your
lectures and how well it fits with EcoFluxx, we are
offering
teachers on this list the option to purchase the game at a
75%
discount. Please look for Kristin's email as to how to
obtain your
copy.
I thank you in advance for all your help!
