I think the point was she wants to be able to generate badges with the
SCL and to do reporting like Ryan Hackel did, only automatically
instead of Ryan's manual effort.
Text Box doesn't allow any statistical analysis or tie into cool
automated stuff.

What kind of functionality would you want for a Starship Captain
app? If
you just want a way for people to add their list to their My Page,
they
should be able to do that already by adding generic "My Text Box"
apps to
their pages. (Add App -> Misc -> My Text Box)

Subject: [Geeks] any NING Developers among us?
so... we finally launched a new fan club: <http://
looneylabs.ning.com>
If you have not come check it out yet, please do! Come join us!
But on topic to this geeks mailing list, I just posted this:
<http://looneylabs.ning.com/forum/topics/starship-captain-custom-ning>
Any chance anyone here already has experience with Ning? Or does
anyone
have the time to poke around and help me figure out how to wrangle our
Starship Captain lists into an application that works with Ning?
Also... HAPPY NEW YEAR!
