I'm not on the edu list! But I will join at least temporarily.

I think it is appropriate to include the Edu list on this. The folks on
that list are probably the best to respond to this question.

Subject: [Something] Peace Corps gift

Hello!

My sister is going to be joining the PeaceCorps -- she's going to be
designing math and science curriculums as part of building a school
from the ground up in Central Africa. (They're not sure which project
site yet - she leaves in September and has training for almost two
months then, so we may not know for a bit).

My parents and I are filling a waterproof case about the size of a
shoebox with personal and fun stuff for her -- and of course, I want
to include a couple of LL games. I'm just wondering if anyone has any
suggestions!

Because there will be a language barrier at least at first, I was
thinking Aquarius and Treehouse. On the other hand, Nanofictionary
could be great for helping her students practice their English. (We
do know she'll be teaching kids no younger than 10.)

And of course, if anyone else has experience and can think of
something else that might be good to send with her let me know! We're
absolutely sending some blank journals, pencils and sharpeners, we
have a small flat stone we each put a fingerprint on (including the
kitty) and sealed so it won't come off, and we're all writing a couple
letters to put in there as well to hold her over until the mail gets
there.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Laurie
