I have found the pyramids and the many games that can be played with
them to be great with my special education kids in my classroom (I am
not a special ed teacher so these are kids coming into a mainstream
classroom for part of their day).

What sort of things are they wanting to accomplish in the special ed
class? If they are working on social skills any game with social
interaction between the kids encourages gaining those skills (turn
taking, negotiation, anger management etc,)

Games that have played very well with my MMI (mildly mentally
impaired) kids have been: Zendo (Looney Labs), Go (classic game),
Treasures and Traps (a new card game I picked up at Origins this
year), and Fluxx (Looney Labs).
