If Pace cold have convinced her opponents in all four games to follow this, she would have come out of the Ice-Offs with a score sum of 120 and one full win, for a rating of 240. Checking the tournament results, I admit it puts her ahead of the highest scoresum by 17 points, but it took two or three full wins and a rating of at least 270 to get into the finals this year. Also, keep in mind that due to the distribution provided by the schedule she would have had to convince almost everybody else in the tournament to go along with this at least once. Sure; OK; if everybody in the tournament agrees that none of them wants to actually win the tournament, this would work. I don't see it as highly likely, though. -- Elliott C.
