I've never been fond of the little plastic tubes. I know they're handy, but putting the bits back is sometimes a challenge.
How so? I've always found that they fit back in exactly the way they came out. It does take more time to collect the pyramids into nests than to leave them in an unordered pile, but that doesn't strike me as a significant challenge.
The only issue *I* have with the tubes is that I don't have an appropriately-sized box in which to carry four of them.
I've been experimenting with a chess-board container based loosely on a tcg playing-mat/storage unit I made up several years ago.
Like a combination Xyloid Icehouse Bag and Chessboard Bandana. Nice.
