Title: ArmadilloCon 27
Location: Austin, TX
Date: August 19-21, 2005

Last August (yeah, I know, I procrastinated a bit in writing this report) I set out to meet some of the gaming community in Austin, where I had recently relocated. I took my Looney games to ArmadilloCon, a mainly SciFi convention with a small group of gamers. It turned out that the Gaming Directors, Brian and Angela Price, were also rabbits, so we decided to try to run a Little Experiment. This was the first demo event for each of us, and while no one actually completed their card (the power of Fluxx to captivate an audience for several hours was underestimated), we introduced many people to the pyramids (IceTowers, Volcano, Zendo) and played Aquarius, Cosmic Coasters, and even a game of Werewolf, leaving only Nanofictionary and Chrononauts for another day.

Next year, I will probably focus more on the pyramid games (and maybe even convince someone that a giant pyramid IceTowers next to the registration table is a good idea), while letting those who already know it head tables for Fluxx and Aquarius in the game room. This Con was much smaller than the only other I had ever attended (DragonCon), and I think I was a bit ambitious wanting to complete a Little Experiment. Nevertheless, we did introduce 25 people to the land of Looney, and broadened the scope of games for 6 people who had only ever played Fluxx.
