Do you have your confirmation number and a copy of your reservation? By that I mean a hard copy (an email, a letter, etc).
If so, call the Marriot back and ask to talk to a manager. It has been my experience that when given all the details, the manager will honor the "lost" reservation. It's at least worth a try.
