My 2 cents on the whole issue comes from being a teacher in a relatively rural area.  There are 0 board game shops within 45 minutes of my town.  The ability of me to ever do a demo is very close to 0 assuming I even ever came across the time to do a demo after school hours.

However, as a teacher rabbit, I work on integrating games into my regular classes. I run an after school gaming club that as of right now consists of Fluxx, pyramid games, and Go (what can I saw, I also have a passion/addiction to Go).  I recently bought a copy of Nanofictionary and have been sitting down with some of the English teachers to kind of show them how the game could be used in a classroom setting as well as spoken with one of the gifted teachers about trying a unit where the kids try to invent games to play with pyramids.

I don't do any of these activities for carrot points because I would just as soon support LL financially when I can (although I have never turned down donations to my school/classroom/club) and it is a good thing since school meetings and the like don't earn the points.  This was at first kind of disappointing to me because I realize that due to my profession, location, and time constraints I will never earn any points past the 10 for a bio and a picture. Now I don't cry in my salad at night over this or anything *laugh* but it would really bum me out later on if I couldn't order and pay with cash money something from the Dangling Carrot due to not having any points when I know exactly what all I have been doing to promote gaming (and particular LL products) in an educational setting.  I still wouldn't stop the work I'm doing because to me it is about trying to breathe some fresh air into public education and make learning actually a little fun - but it would still bum me out a little.

From this whole conversation though, I have now learned to never use more than one point and only use it when it is needed to "activate" an item for order.  Whether that was the intended result or not, only LL can say. :)
