This is a game where it can take forever or can be over before you know it. Kind of depends on the behaviors of the players in the RPS. Some people are more predictable than others, and some people are luckier. The game is played differently as a 3 player game. My friends and I played many 3 player games (and they took forever, or it was 2 against one and then became a race to see who could get the ships to the empty planet) before we realized we were playing it wrong. In the rules it says in a 3 player game you only attack the player on your left (or right I can't remember exactly). This way it pretty much becomes 3 different 2 player games. You are only attacking one player and only defending one player. The fact that the players are different doesn't really matter. If you actually read the rules, and were playing this way then you're way ahead of us, and I don't know what to tell you. Also, I love the idea of using this to study coins. Maybe you could make a modification somehow using different value coins and be able to upgrade five penny ships for a nickel ship or something. Not sure exactly how it might work, but your boys might like trying to figure out some new rules.
