Why can't there be two pages? One classic Choosing Games page advertised on the main page as a starting point for new players and a nice catalogue of the most popular games, and then also another page linked in the side-bar that sorts every game on the wiki, for more experienced players to be able to find something they haven't played yet.

No reason. I think having a catalog of the categories would work better for the second page, but I'm not opposed to having both types of page available. I just don't want to dilute the "Choosing Games" page by having ever game linked from there.

I think one of the most useful things to do for the "Choosing Games" page would be to split it up into a tabular format. It's a pretty long list, and takes up a lot of vertical screen real estate, while most of it is fairly narrow, just including the name of a game. If it were divided into multi-columned sections, you could see a lot more information at a glance.
