Re: [Rabbits] Another rabbit craft idea

Hi folks,

I know that this thread started out as a "hey, what sort of Rabbit Crafts might be cool" for either at-home or at-Origins next year... but it's starting to move into stuff that's going non-rabbit related.

So, what do you think?  Should we move the rest of this discussion about stamps and paint and such to the "Something" list?  I think that we might be about to that point - what do others feel?

I don't want to discourage any wonderful crafty-type discussions!  If you have other ideas/concerns/wishlists for what we can do at Origins, please feel free to drop me a note -offlist- and we can chat that way.  Otherwise, moving this discussion to the "Something" list might be best.

what's the consensus out there?  time to move this thread???

thanks!!

The 24hr dry time is if you use the tube of paint like you're frosting a cake (a thin layer of paint dries much quicker). However, the paint does not show up well on black in such a manner (and it does not coat the stamp in an even layer for some reason).

Still, I think that this may be promising if I can possibly paint the stamps (perhaps making a paint-pad out of a cotton swab).

The effect of a thin layer of paint on black is to make it shine in the color of the paint in that section, which looks neat and could be used for a playing surface, but they appear much more vividly on lighter materials.

Right now I'm using iridescent fabric paint, perhaps florescent or glitter paint would be better for appearing on black cloth.

Also, if anyone has links to a "how to sew by hand" tutorial, I could use it.

I used to aluminum foil wrap old pizza box lids (clean ones of course).  They're very sturdy & more portable if need be.  You could also use cereral boxes, but they're not as durable.  Enjoy!  --Maria

Correction: no pictures (camera doesn't like my computer).

But I did test the paint and stamps on the old chessboard stuff (it's shiny enough to show up on black, and pretty on white).

The problem I came across (aside from the 24hr drying time) is that it tends to bleed through fabric, so I'll need to put some saran wrap/foil/scrap under it (mmm... saran wrap).

I also picked up some needles and thread to try and make bags with, I should be able to throw together some samples of my ideas for napkin-bags (actually, I think I'll just illustrate my notes on the computer).

If you're using actual paint, you may want to take a few hair dryers to aid in the drying process.  Box fans might help too.  Have fun!  --Maria

Ok, I've gone and gotten some spacey stamps and some basic ones (Square, circle, no triangle, moon, squiggly thing, sun, etc).

And I found something that may work too: Fabric paint.

Also I picked up some needles and thread... hopefully there will be enough blood left for the cookie cutters.

Photos of stuff soon I hope

I was thinking more the bulky, 50 cent cheap plastic ones (usually solid colors).  You are correct Evan, blood is permanent!  :P
