The USPS web site says to allow 10 postal days for mail to begin
arriving, and it says that first class mail, priority mail, and
express mail are forwarded for 12 months.
To start arriving or start being forwarded?
"Allow up to seven to ten postal business days from the effective
date on the Change of Address (COA) card to receive forwarded mail at
the new address.
Note: (In most cases it takes a lot less time.)"
One of the pages on the site mentions that this time can depend on
the distance of the move.
