As a math teacher... I'm loving this conversation...
where else in the "real world" do you see people doing
permutations and using phrases like "rotational
symmetry" with the expectation that everyone knows
what you mean. THREE CHEERS...More proof you guys ROCK

One of my mottoes in life is: I only do math for fun. Since this almost never included actual schooling, you'll find my math is sometimes... er... incorrect, but as I said earlier, I'm doing a lot of it by brute force, often visual means, especially for things like this. I guess this is one of the avenues of math that I find "fun". Spacial things like rotational symmetry make me happy. I learned about it looking into tessellations.

PS: and my "Map Girl" persona thinks about rotational symmetry when realizing why my grad school building was sometimes confusing to navigate. Which stairwell am I coming out of? They both look exactly the same... why? Rotational symmetry, my friend. Nobody else seemed to think this was interesting. Sigh.

PPS: Oh, and really you mostly see this stuff on the Aquarius lists, probably because of the nature of AQ. But thanks for your accolades!
