Hello Eco Rabbits!
For those of us who live in the Washington DC area I am
sending a plea to action!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP PLANT CHESTNUT TREES
The Maryland Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation
plans to plant
almost two thousand chestnuts this spring in eight sites in
the state.
These plantings are a regional component of the greater
effort to restore
chestnut, a once widespread species, to forest ecosystems of
Eastern North
America. Helping plant chestnuts represents a great,
hands-on opportunity
to participate locally in tree restoration work with both
national and
global benefits.
Orchard prep work will be done in advance of the planting
dates, beginning in early March. Actual work schedule will
be dependent
upon weather. To volunteer, send a message indicating your
interest,
availability and contact info to mdchapter@xxxxxxx. The
MDTACF will
contact you by email with schedule updates and driving
directions to the
orchards.

devastating blight epidemic that began a century ago, and the
