So, everyone gets a wild card except for the person who had a card of the same value?

No.
Everyone can use that card as a wild card.
It only kills your hand if you have a matching card in your hand.

I.E.  the last card is a 2 of hearts.
It is wild for everyone. If you already have a 2 in your hand, it kills your
hand.

Hope that clears up the poker question.

Wait, what? So, the card is wild, but you can't USE it as a wildcard?
All you have is an Ace High? The only way to win with that card is if
everyone else has nothing and nobody has an ace?

That's so strange! Poor Thom.
