When I'm describing the hop rule, I say any upright piece, or stack of
pieces, can hop upwards to a new location. So if you hop a lower piece,
the upper piece hops with it. I guess I do see that it is not clear,
whether you can hop a middle/lower piece, and leave the piece on top
remaining. I would say no. The piece or group of pieces must still have
open access from the top in order to hop out of it's current position. It
seems pretty intuitive that way, but technically open to interpretation.
That's the way we've played it. The reason we changed it was because
people would constantly try to hop a set of two pyramids, and because the
diagram was not clear if the top piece or the bottom piece was the moveable
piece.
Oh well, I guess there's bound to be some unclarity in rules that are pared
down this tiny. I wish there had been another way. We will definitely
have rules with pictures (that would solve everything, really) on the web.
Also in the 3house booklet.

None yet. I've been playing that it takes everything above it along for
the ride, so Dig affects everything above the moving piece at the end of
the move and Hop affects everything above the moving piece at the start
of the move.

Is there an answer for this, I am wondering the same thing?
