I was bemused to find that the original "Snakes and Ladders" was sort of an "educational" toy. The final square is Nirvana, the snakes are specific vices (lust, anger, murder, theft, etc.), and the ladders are specific virtues (generosity, faith, humility, etc. ) They specifically designed it with more snakes than ladders to teach children how difficult it is to be virtuous. I vaguely remember seeing a more modern version, trying to teach children principles of ecology and green living. You could adapt it to whatever you wanted to teach the children
