RE: [Rabbits] Blog post: "Is Werewolf Killing the Conference Hackfest?"

I have a slightly different take on this question.

The complaint is that everyone, after going to the seminars, is spending their time playing AYAW.

It occurs to me that if that premise is true, then the major draw for the attendants to even come to the hack fest is to play AYAW.

How many people would still come if AYAW (and other games) were not allowed?

Maybe they should incorporate AYAW into the event. Offer prizes, and let people “get it out of their system” (pardon the pun).

Also I would like to point out that a few comments (I did not read them all) point out how AYAW created lasting bonds between attendees, that otherwise would have never happened.

I myself had beet my best friend (over 20 years and counting) over a game of Sky Shark when we were both in college.

Not only has it been a lasting relationship, but our families (wives, children and parents) are all friends as well.

I think that the problem is that these people are sad that they don't get to do something they love anymore...  i.e. hackfests

I, obviously, am also quite biased seeing that I love Werewolf.  I mean, come on, it's been suggested that I should try to drop some (most) of my other stuff for the Labs at Origins just so that I can run AYAW, and I'm not complaining.  (How do you like my run-on skillz??)

I can understand their pessimism though, it was like when Zach and I tried to pull Shannon away from Warcrack during the con, she was sad the rest of the day...
