The stock is a little heavier, more akin to chipboard than cardstock, but not vastly heavier. The design gives a lot more structure to the box, though. The box is fairly rigid, even when empty. When closed, there are at least four layers all the way around the edges. The corners have extra material folded up inside which provides even more protection. It's nice. -- Elliott C.
