I think that could lead to two problems: 1) Inconsistent special role rules from town to town, confusing players who are switching towns/forming new towns when they die (pretty common, at D*C). 2) Someone getting a special role might have to read the card (again, as it could be differently ruled from blank to blank) and thereby make it more obvious to the other players that he or she received a special role. > There will never be a set of expansion cards to satisfy everyone Sure, but there could be a set which covers the best roles that come up in a lot of games: Urchin - (Villager) May peek during wolf night, but instantly dies if they point her out (doesn't cost them that night's kill). Vigilante - (V) Wakes after wolves; may kill one player each night. Magistrate - (V) May protect one player from lynching each day. Devil - (Wins if wolves win) Wakes after Seer; may ask if a player is the Seer or not. Lover 1 & Lover 2 - (Special) Win instead of villagers, if they are alive when last wolf killed; if one dies, the other commits suicide. ... and maybe 3 more wolves (9 cards so far) and the rest villagers (7, for a total of 16). Maybe a Rabbit Poll could figure out what folks most-often use at big-town conventions and tally up votes for various roles? The REAL trick will be coming up with the progression of when to add each role (or extra wolf or villagers).... David
