> From: kerry_and_ryan@xxxxxxx > I'd have to see the actual icons before voting. Unless you're volunteering, that's probably not going to happen. The whole point of the poll(s) is to resolve size *before* we invest a ton of effort making icons. If you observe Windows icon in the System Tray or on a Taskbar toolbar, you will see that 16px icons can be very attractive and recognizable... and if you look at BGG, you can see that they can be not-so-good (IMHO, with apologies to the artists). Therefore, the size issue is "quality agnostic," because size doesn't really matter for quality icons--though, yes, the larger the icon, the easier it is to get high quality using amateur methods, skills, and tools. And, ultimately, if an ugly icon or two gets onto the site, a better artist can just replace it with a revision upload--if it's actually prettier, no one will roll back the replacement. > From: Kristin Looney <rabbit-support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > This is great stuff, David - Thanks! (I just voted) Thanks, Kristin. You vote will break any tie that might occur, as you are the Mama Rabbit (and we know better than to cross our mama!). FOLLOW-UP Folks, I realize that I failed to provide a deadline for voting. OK, here it is: whenever I get time to start to make the badges, I will close polling without warning and just start to Do It (like I've been so-often told). After that, if you want a different size, start copying templates and resizing icons (hint: resizing UP rarely looks good...). ;) Hmmm... for that matter (though I loathe to admit it) it might not be all that much more work to offer two sizes... well, OK, a bit less than double the work, plus a naming convention to designate big versus small icons and templates. I figure--aside from icon massaging--a given badge will take, oh, two or three minute to make: * Copy the template code * Make new template page * Paste code * Modify text and hidden Category tag to the specific con/game/warren * Change icon file name being called * Add to a List of Badges page So... if we want two sizes, we begin with 32px icons and then scale by 1/2 and save under a new name--call that, oh, five minutes per icon, considering that there will always be some graphic manipulation required and allowing for the whole upload process. (I think I'm gonna regret mentioning two sizes as an option.) David
